Calling All Readers, The Heights Big Read is Back
The second annual Heights Big Read gets underway with the "Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian" by Sherman Alexie.

Calling all readers - the biggest book club that has ever existed in Hasbrouck Heights is back again.
Suzanne Kos, an educator at the who heads the literacy reform program, says this second annual once again invites the entire community to join in the reading of one book, share discussions online, and come together at a related movies screening in April.
Kos says the book of choice this year is the “Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian” by Sherman Alexie.

“This book is written by one of the most important voices of our time. Sherman Alexie, a Native American writer, tells his amazing story with eloquence and humor,” said Kos about why she chose this book as this year’s selection.
"I can’t believe how moved I was by every part of this book…and how much my students enjoyed it," she continued. "Even though the life of a Native American might not seem familiar to the students in our high school, the theme of trying to fit in, while at the same time trying to be yourself, is a universal issue that almost everyone can relate to."
