'Christmas Around the World' at Corpus Christi School
Annual program included musical selections in four languages, Nativity story
Students of Corpus Christi School gave parents, friends and relatives a treat when they performed the annual holiday program on Wednesday night.
“Christmas Around the World” included musical selections in English, Spanish, German and Italian by students in the first grade and the junior choir, which consists of second through fifth graders. Kindergarten children reenacted the Nativity story, and eighth graders assisted with back-up music.
“This was a lot of work but well worth it because the children did an excellent job,” said Geri Mendoza, music director. “They all enjoyed it and showed a lot of spirit.”

Among the musical numbers performed were “O Tannenbaum” in German; “Tu Scendi Dalle Stelle” in Italian; and “Feliz Navidad” in Spanish. They also sang “African Noel” to the beat of bongo drums.
The show's director, Kathleen Ocello, who teaches sixth, seventh and eighth grades, said the children practiced for more than a month, adding that the annual Christmas show is one of four programs put on throughout the school year.
