County to Vote on Open Space Trust Fund Allocations

Hasbrouck Heights is slated to receive $18,000 towards improvements to Firemen's Memorial Park

Bergen County's Board of Chosen Freeholders will hold a public hearing in June on their proposed expenditures for the Municipal Park Improvement and Land Acquisition Program.

The program is part of the Open Space Trust Fund for 2010. Grants from the program will help municipalities fund improvements to parks and recreational facilities. The county plans to spend a total of $2,026,852 in 45 different communities.

Hasbrouck Heights is slated to receive $18,000 towards improvements to Firemen’s Memorial Park at the Boulevard circle. The borough is looking to spruce up the park with upgrades such as new sidewalks, irrigation and the installation of electricity for lighting that would be used for ceremonies and events, Mike Kronyak, borough administrator explained. If the grant is approved, the borough would match the county grant amount to fund the improvements.
