District Expects to See State Aid Numbers By End of Week
BOE can finalize tentative budget to submit to county for approval before it can be presented to public

Business administrator for the school district, Dina Messery, expects to have the state aid numbers by Thursday of this week following the governor’s State of the Union address on Tuesday.
Once the state aid numbers are in, members will need to have an emergency meeting at the end of the week in order to adopt a tentative budget to submit to the county for its approval by March 4, she explained. Once the county gives the district its okay the board can then present the budget to the public.
A budget presentation has been scheduled for March 29 in the high school auditorium. District administrators stated that there will be other opportunities to learn about the budget as well but they just can’t determine those dates at this time until they have the okay from the county.
District officials have been looking for ways to generate more revenue through the for the use of the Heights district’s payroll and accounting services and are also and school buses. that allows school district’s to sell advertising on sides of school buses as way of generating revenue.
State aid was cut last year and Messery said she does not know if the district will get the amount of $415,000 they were left with last year.
