Dozens of Community-Based Scholarships Available to Seniors
Deadline to apply for community scholarships is April 2

Thanks to the support and generosity of the Hasbrouck Heights community graduating seniors have an abundance of scholarship opportunities each year.
The school community reminds seniors to apply for the dozens of scholarship awards available which recognize students for athletic or scholastic achievement, the arts, business and community service. Deadline for applying is April 2. Materials must be sent to Fran DelVecchio in the guidance office.
According to the school district website all seniors are encouraged to apply for the general scholarship. A list of all available scholarships are located on the website which includes links to the required applications and other materials that must be submitted.

Various community groups fundraise all year in support of scholarships for the community’s graduates. The Junior Women’s Club offers several scholarships, one general and three supporting the arts in music, visual and performing arts. Also it awards the Ruth Earle Perry Memorial Scholarship to student based on community service and volunteer work.
American Legion, Elks Lodge and Lions Club offer scholarships and all the school PTAs as well. The Hasbrouck Heights Mens’ Association awards the Steven R. Bizik Memorial scholarship, named for a former student and charter member of the organization, to a student who has academic achievement and community service.

Graduating students interested in pursuing a career in criminal justice can apply for the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department Community Policing Scholarship.
Various athletic scholarships exist including the Hasbrouck Heights Soccer Association Jerrold R. McDowell Memorial which awards two scholarships to soccer players who plan to continue soccer activity after high school. The Gerhard C. Depken Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund was created in 1990 in honor of the late athletic director.
Among the many memorial scholarships is the Hasbrouck Heights Education Foundation scholarship in memory of Nicholas A. Ciocia. The award goes to a senior who graduated Euclid School with plans to pursue an undergraduate degree with a major in business, math or accounting.
