Drop Off Unwanted Medications At Hasbrouck Heights PD April 30

Operation Take Back designed to curb prescription drug abuse.

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. — The police department will accept unwanted prescription pills during Operation Take Back April 30.

Pills and patches can be dropped off at the police station at 248 Hamilton Ave.. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Liquids or needles will not be accepted.

The service is free and anonymous.

Local police departments and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency sponsor the program in an effort to end prescription drug abuse.

Last September, Americans turned in more than 700,000 pounds of prescription drugs at more than 5,000 sites operated by the DEA and more than 3,800 of its state and local law enforcement partners.

Overall, in its 10 previous Take Back events, DEA and its partners have taken in over 5.5 million pounds — more than 2,750 tons — of pills.
