Spring-Like Temps Has DPW Focused on Pot Hole Repairs, Tree Stump Removal
Plows are still ready to go in the event the area were to get snow at the end of this winter season.

This spring-like weather has enabled the to focus on pot-hole repair and tree maintenance over the past few weeks, unlike last winter which had them, plowing and removing snow on an almost daily basis.
DPW Superintendent Bill Spindler says that the crews have begun to patch up some of the pot holes around town and the county was in town two days last week filling the pot holes along the Boulevard. Spindler said the county worked their way south along the Boulevard filling holes on that side. He said the county will have to come back to finish working their way up north from Kipp Avenue and up.
It’s perfect weather for permanently filling the pot holes with hot asphalt, Spindler said, however the plants which provide the substance to the DPW are only offering cold patch material right now because it still is the winter season. Cold patch is used during the winter months as a temporary solution with the intention of going back later to fill them in with hot asphalt.

Spindler said the DPW crew has also been regularly conducting tree stump removal around town. In preparation of the spring, Spinder said he has ordered about 30 trees for the annual planting.
If all this warm weather were to suddenly be replaced by winter snow, the DPW is ready to manage. Spindler said he has refrained from removing the plows and chains from the trucks so that they are ready to go if winter decided to return.
