Emergency Repairs Recently Done to Sewerage Facility Serving Burr Place Area
Borough officials approved the funding for the emergency repairs Tuesday

Emergency repairs were recently done to the sanitary sewerage facility which serves the dwellings on Burr Place between Passaic Avenue and Henry Street due to a sewer blockage that had forced one family to temporarily vacate its home.
Borough officials introduced a funding ordinance Tuesday night to allocate $75,000 for the repair, which Mike Kronyak, borough administrator said were already included in the budget. Each year the borough puts funding aside for sewer maintenance, he said.
As a result of the Department of Public Works inspecting the site to try to clear the sewer line which was reportedly inundated with roots, workers found that the main line was not clearly identified on the tax maps and therefore had not been properly maintained over several decades.

Manholes had been covered by several feet of soil due to development of homes over the years in that area. Kronyak explained a contractor had to come in to find the manholes and it was then determined that the manhole chambers needed to be replaced.
