Gordon, Wagner and Eustace Speak Out Against Port Authority Toll Hike
Each week we bring you updates and news from District 38 legislators

State Senator Bob Gordon along with Assemblywoman Connie Wagner and candidate for assembly, Maywood Mayor Tim Eustace spoke out this week against reports that claimed Governor Christie would support a proposed 25 percent toll increase for bridges and tunnels by the Port Authority.
Gordon and team reacted to a New York Post article which appeared Tuesday which indicated that Governor Christie would support such a plan which would raise tolls by $2 more – bringing it from $8 to $10. The governor has since dismissed that he has given a sign-off to any such plan.
The District 38 legislators’ statement is as follows: “The details in the news, if accurate, are deeply disturbing. At a time when drivers already face overwhelming expenses on the road, they simply cannot handle any sort of hike to the cost of their commute. This secret plan, if accurate, is just plain wrong.

“While the governor has denied any knowledge of it, he needs to go a step further and denounce it as soon as possible. New Jersey drivers don't need their leaders to be coy on this issue. They need to know if he is willing to sign off on a toll hike proposal that will impact hundreds of thousands of New Jersey commuters. Any plan or idea to boost the cost of their commute an average of $2 a trip is simply unconscionable.”
