HS English Teacher Resigns Before Finishing School Year
School community learns of the resignation of Ryan Smith who resigned April 23

The school community and parents are learning this week that English teacher Ryan Smith resigned this past Monday and will not finish out the school year.
No details were given at the n meeting Thursday as to why Smith resigned. Board President Josephine Ciocia said she could not comment in regards to the resignation but confirmed that Smith resigned on April 23.
The board had to approve a resolution to accept the resignation and another to approve a substitute English teacher from April 30 to June 22.

Smith was active in the district and was always seen at monthly Board of Education meetings. He served as and was instrumental in helping the students get the group established. He also was advisor to the high school yearbook staff.
A few students came forward at the meeting Thursday to say that they heard Smith had resigned and wanted to comment that he was a great teacher. One student said Smith was open and supportive and will be greatly missed. Another student said he knows Smith will be hard to replace but hopes the board can find someone like him.

One former student, who said she graduated two years ago, said Smith was a great teacher who even went as far as to still check in with her since her graduation. She said she doesn’t think he really ever could be replaced.
