HS Track Star Kevin Condal Will Attend Rutgers University
Condal is the state's fastest 300 meter runner in both 2010 and 2011

Three-time All Bergen County track star Kevin Condal of Hasbrouck Heights announced he will attend Rutgers University where he will continue his outstanding track career.
The state’s fastest 300 meter runner in both 2010 and 2011 selected Rutgers after also considering the University of Connecticut, Penn State, Maryland and the Coast Guard.
For Condal, it came down to representing his home state. “I enjoyed my official visits to every school, but one day it just hit me that the rosters of each college I was considering were primarily made up of athletes from their own states. I know a lot of the guys on the team already and the thought of competing and pushing with Jersey guys to win a Big East championship for our State and Rutgers made it a natural decision.”

“I remember when my older sister Taylor (former Hasbrouck Heights multi-sport record holder) spent two summers in Europe playing soccer for a state team. I know it meant a lot to her representing New Jersey and the thought of me doing the same thing with Rutgers really feels great,” he added.
“Coach Mulqueen (Rutgers head track coach Mike Mulqueen) and I would talk almost every Monday night and he made it clear that he is committed to finding excellent track athletes right here in New Jersey. Anyone watching the Sectionals, Groups, and States knows the great talent right here in New Jersey and I’m glad to be staying home to be a part of the Rutgers program.”

Condal’s Hasbrouck Heights high school coach, Rob Brady, agrees. “Kevin will be a great addition to the Rutgers program. With his work ethic and determination to succeed he will not stop until he reaches his goals. Kevin leaves Hasbrouck Heights as the most successful runner in our program’s history and I am proud that he chose Rutgers and look forward to following his success at the next level.”
Condal, who holds the all time Bergen County Meet of Champions record of 47.94 seconds in the 400 meters, expects to compete in events from the 200 meter to 800 meter with Rutgers. “With me, it is all about the team, and I’ll contribute in every way I can. I want to win a Big East Championship and I’ll help the team with the individuals and the relays and anything else Coach Mulqueen needs for us to win.”
