Lincoln School - Look It's the Cat in the Hat [VIDEO]

Students celebrated the 100th day of school with a special guest

Lincoln School youngsters were sure surprised when they looked up from their crafting to see The Cat in the Hat standing in the school gym - a special surprise for the 100th day of school on Wednesday.

Principal Lesa Brinker said media specialist Katherine DiGuglielmo made it all possible. A member of the New Jersey Education Association, DiGuglelmo registered for the visit and the school was selected among hundreds to get a visit from The Cat in that Hat which was fully sponsored by the NJEA.

In honor of the 100th day of school teachers sported T-shirts that read "We are 100 days smarter," all the children wore special "Cat in the Hat" hats and DiGuglielmo sported a big red and white one much like the guest of honor's hat.

Once the six-foot-plus tall "Cat" made his appearance and began walking around the gym greeting the students, six-year old student Marisa Ackattupathil sang "Dr. Seuss We Love You" from the musical "Seussical." DiGuglielmo led the students through a reading of "Green Eggs and Ham" and reminded them of the message of Dr. Seuss that "books are fun."
