Republican Justin DiPisa Seeks Sixth Term on Council
Longtime Councilman Justin DiPisa, a Republican, seeks another term.

Republican Justin DiPisa has been serving the community on the council since 1994 when he was first appointed to fill a vacancy. He’s been re-elected five times and now seeks his sixth term on the council.
DiPisa’s community involvement as a life long resident and former business owner led him to serve the community in public office. A longtime business owner (he owned DiPisa’s Pharmacy for 17 years) DiPisa had the opportunity to get to know everyone in the community who came into his shop. He had an inside view of the issues people had in town. He was listening to them everyday. He then realized the possibilities that could come out of his getting involved in local government.
“Pam, Rose and I worked diligently on the finance committee to bring our budget down which was a big priority,” he said referring to his running mates, fellow council person Pamela Link and Mayor Rose Heck. The borough has had to work against several factors such as reduced state aid, no new revenue and still managed to keep the tax increase in check.

DiPisa says he hasn’t heard any complaints from residents about the property reassessment process and believes the people in town realize that the governing body is responding to the market changes and see the positives of the process.
He says despite being in a difficult economy the borough continues to move forward in areas referring to the use of grants to help funds improvement in town and also they continue to encourage more people to get involved in volunteering. DiPisa referred to the Republican Club which continues to encourage youngsters to get involved in volunteering. In fact each year the Republican Club awards scholarships to high school seniors who are active volunteers. This past year the club expanded its offering giving out two scholarship awards.

Senior citizens are a priority as well DiPisa said as he doesn’t want to see them leave the borough due to rough economic times. Each year the borough hosts tax forums where representatives from the state come in to explain things such as the tax freeze to the seniors which can help them especially during rough times.
DiPisa says Hasbrouck Heights is a safe town and it’s why people want to live here and raise their families.
