Meet the Candidates: Robert Salerno

As part of Patch's Board of Education Election Preview, each candidate was invited to make a statement via video and/or text. We will feature one candidate every two hours, in alphabetical order. We continue with Robert Salerno.

Robert Salerno is seeking a three-year term on the Board of Education. Below is his statement in his own words. Watch the video to see him present his statement.


I have been a resident of Hasbrouck Heights since 2001 and I have served on the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education from 2003 - 2006. I am married to my wife Francine and we have three children all attending the public schools in Hasbrouck Heights.

My wife’s family have been lifelong residents of the borough of Hasbrouck Heights and my wife attended the Hasbrouck Height Public School System and graduated in 1988.

I am currently a member of the Lodi Police Department and have been a member since January 1990 and I currently hold the rank of Sergeant. I was an active member of the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department from 2001 – 2005. I am an active member of Euclid Masonic Lodge located in Hasbrouck Heights.

I graduated Lodi High School, The Bergen County Police and Fire Academy,
Monmouth County Fire Academy, and I graduated from the University of Phoenix where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

I volunteer as a baseball coach for my children and I assist the with the Junior Aviators football program.

I hope to continue to help the children of Hasbrouck Heights by continuing as a Board of Education Trustee.
