Municipal Offices Begin Summer Hours This Week
As of May 31 municipal offices will be open from 8 am. to 3:30 p.m.

Beginning Tuesday, the municipal offices will once again begin observing summer hours starting the business day at 8 a.m. rather than at 9 a.m.
The offices still maintain a full day of operation five days a week but will just begin an hour earlier and close an hour earlier. Offices will now be closed at 3:30 p.m. instead of 4:30 p.m.
The offices which recognize these summer hours are the Borough Clerk's office, Building Department, Recreation Department, Health Department and the tax collector and tax assessor offices. The police department and the library operate during their regular business hours.

At a recent mayor and council meeting Mike Kronyak, borough administrator explained that this practice started several years ago as it was noted that over the summer months less people came to the offices after 2 or 3 p.m. and were seen coming in during the early hours instead.
At first it began as trail but then as more and more people began to come in between the hours of 8 and 9 a.m. to conduct business the borough decided to make it a regular practice for the summer.

Also closing at 3:30 p.m. aids in a cost savings as the air conditioning unit is turned off about 2:30 p.m. which saves energy and cuts down on the electric use, Kronyak explained.
