Pesticide-Free Products Will Be Tested at Polifly Park
DPW is preparing parks for springtime

The borough’s will use on Terrace Avenue as a test site for pesticide-free products this spring.
According to Councilwoman Sonya Buckman who is the liaison to parks and recreation the products will be tested so the borough can determine the effectiveness of the products and how cost effective they will be at protecting grass and preventing the growth of weeds. The products are said to be more costly and need to be applied more often compared to products the borough has used previously, Buckman reported.
The idea to use organic pesticide-free products came as a result of a discussion between Bill Spindler, superintendent of the DPW and Jack Stavash, the head of the environmental commission, in regards to creating an environment for borough children that is pesticide free.
The DPW is currently working to prepare borough parks for the spring as warmer temperatures near. The department has recently opened the restrooms at and completed repairs to its plumbing.
