Musicians Present Annual Pops Concert [VIDEO]

Middle School/High School music department presents its annual Pops concert

music department presented its annual Pops Concert Thursday night treating the community to a night of entertaining music by the jazz band, symphonic band, the concert band and the concert choir.

The jazz band, conducted by Joseph Ascolese, opened the night performing two selections followed by the symphonic band, led by Carron Moroney. The symphonic band did renditions of some of today’s hits like the Black Eyed Peas “I Gotta Feeling” and Katy Perry’s “Firework” and then what Moroney called “a classic” Michael Jackson’s “Thriller."

Ascolese and the concert band closed out the show with renditions of some classic popular songs like Beatle’s “Something,” some fun disco classics like “Stayin’ Alive” and “YMCA” were in the mix. The concert band closed out with a medley of Queen songs from “Bohemian Rhapsody” to “We Are the Champions.”
