Porto Gives Update on Genesis

Superintendent reports that 99 percent of demographic information is updated and staff has adjusted to change.

Dr. Mark Porto, superintendent, gave a report Wednesday night on the status of the district’s new student database system.

Porto stated that after what was a the district is now mostly comfortable with the change and are seeing value to it. He also said that now 99 percent of demographic information for all parents and guardians has been updated. He told parents if anyone still has any issues they should notify him.

He thanks staff members and parents for being so patient during the change. The district got the new system up and running over the summer and began to transfer over information off the old student database system Renweb to Genesis at the start of the school year.

A week before school began, the district conducted a community forum to assist parents with the new login information and answer questions about the new system.

Porto has stated that Genesis is said to be more user-friendly and is more widely used by districts in the state. The district had already considered moving away from Renweb earlier this year before it was notified that Renweb would no longer support New Jersey school districts.
