Recycling Funds Help Purchase DPW Equipment and Vehicles

The borough saved more than $100,000 through recycling efforts in 2010

Funds from recycling efforts over the past year helped the borough recently purchase vehicles and equipment for the .

In total, the borough saved $109,804.56 during 2010 according to the recycling report which Councilman David Gonzalez who serves as commissioner of Streets, Sanitation and Transportation presented last week. The borough recently filed its recycling tonnage report to the state Department of Environmental Protection.

By avoiding solid waste costs, the borough saved $74,712.10 and also received funds from Atlantic Cost Fibers in the amount of $30,835.96 and $4,256.50 from Cinelli Iron & Metal Company.

The funds from recycling efforts went towards the recent purchase of four vehicles and two pieces of equipment used for snow removal which totaled $142,620.

2008 Ford 350 Mason Dump  Truck with plow for $36,000
2008 Ford 250 pickup truck with plow for $28,000
2010 Ford 150 pickup truck for $24,720
2011 five cubic yard salt spreader for $14,000
2011 eight foot baker snow plow blade for $9,900.
