Euclid and Lincoln PTA members are asking fellow parents for input on handbook which will provide key info on school and community resources, information, etc.

Parents of the Euclid and Lincoln School PTAs have come together to create a parent student handbook designed to help new families in town get familiar with the school’s community and its resources.
Executive board members of both elementary school PTAs told parents at the Board of Education meeting Wednesday they are looking to spread the word and encourage fellow parents to share their ideas on what type of information should be included.
Maria Alvarez, a vice president and Joanne Baez, president of Lincoln School PTA, along with Denise Buckman, a vice president of Euclid PTA said they were approached by Superintendent Mark Porto with this idea which is also uniting the two elementary school communities together.

“Try to think about what you would have wanted to know when you first moved into town,” Baez told parents asking them to share their ideas.
Alvarez said the handbook will include all school information, including registration, important dates, food service fees and details as well as information about the community such as Recreation programs, community organizations.

It would also include information on the public library and how to sign up for a library card. Alvarez said they are also looking to include religious education information as there are a lot of churches in the community.
One parent suggested they add photos of the school buildings to the handbook, another suggested demographic information should be included such as class size. Another parent asked if it would be accessible online. Alvarez said maybe at some point but the current goal is to create a physical handbook. They also seeking questions that parents would want answered to include as well.
Baez said the handbook would serve as a welcome to new families helping children to feel familiar with the community in order to make their transition easier.
