Steve Forte Resigns, Search for New High School Principal to Begin

Forte will leave at end of calendar year to become superintendent in Verona

A search will begin for a new principal of as Steve Forte has officially resigned.

Forte officially resigned from the district last Wednesday and has accepted the . It is expected that he will leave Hasbrouck Heights at the end of this calendar year.

Board of Education President Josephine Ciocia said Thursday that nothing has been decided as of yet as to when the search will begin, who may be chosen to serve as acting principal or who will be considered as a replacement. She said the board will meet on the matter during committee meetings and the regular business meeting this month.

“I am going to miss this place a lot,” Forte told Patch. “I think [Hasbrouck Heights] is great. The students are amazing. We have done many positive things and the students have responded.”

Forte has been with the Heights district since 2006 first serving as principal of Lincoln School. after previously serving as Director of Technology and Curriculum since June 2010. The district had eliminated that position this past January and named Forte principal of the high school replacing Peter O’Hare who was transferred to serve as principal of .

teaching mostly at the high school level in Livingston, Basking Ridge and Glen Rock, where had a brief stint serving as acting principal. He has also coached football and wrestling.
