U.S. Senators Announce Funds for Teterboro Airport, Republican Race for State Legislative Seats Begins

U.S. Senators Frank R. Lautenberg and Robert Menendez announced earlier this week that Teterboro Airport will receive more than  $6.9 million in federal funding for runway rehabilitation from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The funds were awarded to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey which operates the airport and will oversee the rehabilitation.

In local District 38 news, the deadline of file for the June 7 primary election was this past Monday. There is a race on the Republican side between John Driscoll, Bergen County Freeholder an Paramus resident and Michael Agosta of Fair Lawn. The two will vie for the party nomination and the right to face Democratic incumbent State Senator Robert Gordon of Fair Lawn who seeks re-election.

Five people on the Republican ticket are running for the two assembly seats up for election. They include Richard S. Goldberg of Hawthorne and Fernando A. Alonso of Oradell running as a team against Joseph J. Gant and Scott A. Verrone, both of Hawthorne. Wojciech Siemaszkiewicz of Bergenfield is also in the Republican race.

Assemblywoman Joan Voss of the borough of Fort Lee which was moved to District 37 is not seeking a seat in the assembly and instead is seeking a county Freeholder seat.

Assemblywoman Connie Wagner and Timothy Eustace are running for assembly on the Democratic ticket.
