Yearbook Presented, Special Service Director to Begin Next Week and More School District News
Andrea Freeman, current special service director, retires this week

In part with this week’s graduation ceremony for the Class of 2011, Ryan Smith, high school English teacher presented a copy of the yearbook to the Board of Education members during the public meeting Thursday night.
Smith reported that the yearbook committee had a successful year and the book has been submitted to Columbia Scholastic Press Association for judging. They are already working on the yearbook for next year’s class and a cover has already been designed.
The Class of 2011 yearbook designed to resemble a composition notebook displays the words “The rest is still unwritten.”

- Retiring Special Service Director Andrea Freeman will leave at the end of next week. Her replacement Dr. Matthew Helfant is expected to start at the beginning of July.

- The board of education has also applied for a security grant to install some security cameras at the schools, Dina Messery, business administrator reported.
- The board was able to purchase 50 iPads through its technology budget, board member Mark Nazarro reported Thursday. Twenty-five will be used at the middle school and the others are used by administrators and board members.
