Zoning Board of Adjustment Reorganizes

Zoners host first meeting of year and hear applications from homeowners

The borough’s zoning board of adjustment conducted its reorganization meeting Thursday night, where they re-elected its chairman and elected a new vice chairman and heard over applications from homeowners.

Bill Kremer, chairman, stated that this was the first meeting of the zoning board for 2011 as there had been no applications submitted for review in previous months. At the start of the meeting the board moved to elect its chairman and vice chairman.

Bill Kremer was unanimously chosen to serve as chairman once again while John Mazza was unanimously voted to serve as the new vice chairman for 2011.

Four applications were heard Thursday night from homeowners looking for variances to make additions or improvements to their homes such as replacing an existing garage structure with a new one. Other homeowners had applications for home expansions and pool installations reviewed by the zoning board.

There are rules and regulations to building any structure in Hasbrouck Heights. The board hears applications taking such factors as height, area, water drainage and runoff and distance between structures all according to borough ordinance into consideration.
