$1M Awarded To Hillsborough Schools Solely For Infrastructure Spending
The money was given to Hillsborough after it struggled to balance its school budget due to a cut in state aid.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — After Hillsborough struggled to balance its school budget due to a $1.4 million cut in state aid, the Board of Education(BOE) recouped most of that money on Monday night.
At the meeting, Board members accepted a check presented by Senator Andrew Zwicker, Assemblyman Roy Freiman, and Assemblywoman Sadaf Jaffer (all from the 16th legislative district) in the amount of $1, million.
Those three lawmakers lobbied with the state for additional funding after Board President Paul Marini, Hillsborough Education Association President Henry Goodhue, Acting Superintendent Kim Feltre, and Business Administrator Gerry Eckert all pleaded for help, said Hillsborough Acting Superintendent Kim Feltre.

"As you are aware we took a significant hit with the S2 funding formula. Senator Andrew Zwicker, Assemblyman Roy Freiman, and Assemblywoman Sadaf Jaffer were able to secure an additional $1 million earmarked specifically for our schools for infrastructure spending. We are so grateful for their assistance in supporting our students," said Feltre.

"We came together on behalf of the students of this district because we all know families move to Hillsborough for the quality of education here. Families stay in Hillsborough for the quality of education here. And for the teachers, personnel and administration, and students," said Zwicker. "This was truly a team effort."
