2nd Positive Coronavirus Case Reported In Hillsborough

The Hillsborough Township resident is currently in isolation and being monitored.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A second Hillsborough resident has tested positive for the new coronavirus, the township announced Friday.

The Hillsborough Township resident is currently in isolation and being monitored by the Hillsborough Township Health Department.

The health department is working with the state to identify any potential contacts for follow-up. A representative from the health department will reach out to residents within 24 to 48 hours if they were in close contact with this resident.

The first Hillsborough case was reported on Wednesday. That resident had close contact with a coworker in Middlesex County that had previously tested positive for COVID-19. (See Related: Hillsborough Resident Tests Positive For Coronavirus)

Murphy said there are 155 new cases of the coronavirus, raising the state total to 890 on Friday. There were also two more deaths, raising the total to 11 deaths. (See Related: Gov. Murphy: 2 More NJ Coronavirus Deaths, Strong Measures Coming)

Six new positive cases of the new coronavirus were reported in Somerset County on Friday at 3 p.m. bringing the total to 30 in the county. (See Related: Somerset County Coronavirus Cases Rise To 30)

The governor said the state should expect stronger measures on Saturday to "tighten the screws" and help bring an end to the outbreak. New Jersey will likely shut all non-essential businesses, and gatherings of 10 – or even fewer – will likely be banned, Murphy said.
