3rd Generation Somerset Print Shop Is Helping To Feed The Hungry

The Somerset-based third-generation print shop, Mariano Press, is showing that even small companies can have big impact.

SOMERSET, NJ — Mariano Press of Somerset, a third-generation print shop, is showing that even small companies can have big impact.

Mariano Press has been in business for more than 70 years and last January Jeremy Mariano took over the business from his father who has since retired.

Mariano wanted to affect change in his own way and came up with a plan to connect with the nation’s leading nonprofit for food insecure Americans and to do their part in ending hunger in the U.S.

“As an adolescent I had a great sense of patriotism and pride as an American. When I entered college, my world view broadened and I was disappointed when I learned about problems we have right here in the United States,” Mariano said. “What bothered me most was the issue of hunger in the United States.”

To do his part, Mariano’s goal is to provide 150,000 meals this year. To do that his company is donating a portion of each sale to end hunger and purchase meals. Every $20 spent with with Mariano Press generates one meal for hungry Americans.

“With this new initiative our vision is to show the world a better way to do business. I hope that this framework is copied by others and that we create ripple effects of positive change throughout the world,” Mariano said.

The 11-person shop provides small and large print orders to local community businesses such as Ferrero Rocher, Rutgers University, Robert Wood Johnson and more.

Mariano also offers printing services for smaller clients such as invitations, business cards and more.

“There are only about 10 other companies working on this program and I definitely think it can be really positive,” said Anthony Gallo, Finance Manger at Marinao Press. “I hope other places in Somerset will do the same.”
