Active Shooter Training To Be Conducted In Hillsborough Wednesday
Breaking: Auten Road Intermediate School will be closed to the public and there will be numerous emergency vehicles present until 1 p.m.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough emergency officials will be conducting an active shooter response training on Wednesday at the Auten Road Intermediate School. Residents are reminded that this is only a drill.
The building will be closed to the public and there will be numerous emergency vehicles present at the property until 1 p.m. Only participants of the the exercise will be permitted on school property during the exercise.
This training is similar to the one conducted at the Municipal Complex. The goal of the training exercise is to prepare employees in the event an active shooter should enter the school.

“It is critical given the climate of these types of situations around the country that we train with our partners within the township to ensure understanding of how the police and other first responders respond in the event of an active shooter or other similar threat,” Hillsborough Police Chief Darren Powell stated.
The training will include participation by Hillsborough Township Police Department, the Office of Emergency Management, Hillsborough Bureau of Fire Safety, Hillsborough Township Volunteer Fire Departments, RWJ-EMS and Hillsborough Township Board of Education.
