Batula Leads Raiders Over Red Devils With 30 Assists

The Hillsborough Raiders volleyball team beat the visiting Ridge Red Devils in straight sets Wednesday to improve their record to 27-3.

IN SHORT

The Raiders did not have their “A” game against the Red Devils but played well enough to win 2 games to none.

The first game was back and forth until at 15-14 the Raiders put on a 10-4 run to close out the game 25-18. Ed Jedzinski had 4 kills in the first game and Frank Batula had 4 blocks in the game.

The second game started similar to the first, but, just like the first, what was a close game at 8-6 became an easy Raider win as the Raiders outscored the Red Devils 17-7 to close out the game and the match.

Frank Batula –The senior setter had 30 assists to go along with his team leading 6 blocks and 1 kill. .

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES

Ed Jedziniak – Lead the Raiders with 8 kills. He also had 2 aces, 4 blocks.

Michael Warn – Was second to Jedziniak with 6 kills. He also had an ace, 4 blocks, 5 digs, and 2 assists.

Chris Amato – Along with Jake Urretia lead team with 7 digs. He also had an ace,  an assist, and 2 kills.

UP NEXT – State Tournament starts next week. Seeding meeting is Friday. Raiders expect to be the top seed in their section.
