Dukes Football Gives All in South Plainfield

The Hillsborough Dukes travelled to South Plainfield on Sunday, Sept. 30 to play South Plainfield and Montgomery.

The Hillsborough Dukes travelled to South Plainfield on Sunday, September 30th to play South Plainfield and Montgomery. The Dukes’ competed in games across 3 levels starting at 8:30 in the morning, while the Pee Wee team competed in Hamilton.

Flag teams
The Yellow team had a strong day against South Plainfield. The offense was led by scores from Tristan Jose, Logan McDermid, James Grohe and Francesca Schiro with 2 touchdowns. CJ Olney, Adrian Carley, Cole Hayden, Anthony Sowinski , Liam Schwartz, Marcus Baker, Jack Geraci, and Steven Hunt contributed on offense with key blocks and timely runs.

The Red squad played against South Plainfield and Montgomery. Jack O’Donnell, Jason Roser, and Chris Spinelli had touchdown runs for the Dukes. Those runs were led by the blocking of Trey McKeever, Chris DeCicco, and Billy Meszaros. Key contributors on defense were Philip Unangst, Wade Liedl, Layne Carley, Dain Smith, JB McCrea, and Jack Moran.

Mitey Mites
The Mitey Mites played a great game against Montgomery, highlighted by a great 4th quarter comeback. The offense found the end zone twice led by a Leo Schiro touchdown run and touchdown catch which was thrown by James Mazuera. Mazuera and Rocco Viscel added extra points. The defense rebouned from the 1st half and held Montgomery in the 2nd half. Notable contributions were made by Mike abode with a sack and tackle for loss. Matt Ruggier and Mazuera and Viscel with key tackles.

Junior Pee Wee
The Junior Pee Wee also played Montgomery and came up on the wrong side of a 20-7 result. The offense scored on a pass and catch from Andre Scheflin to Sean Levonaitis. Nick Caprosso led the defense with a number of tackles behind the line.

 

PeeWee
The Hillsborough Duke PeeWee lost to Riverside by a score of 33-13 in Hamilton. The Dukes look forward to next weeks game to try and get back in the win column.       

 

Cheer
 All of the football teams would like to thank the Dukes cheer squads for their support. The girls cheered on the football teams throughout the day, and led the fans in their support. The halftime routines are improving weekly as Competition season approaches and we can’t wait to root the girls on.

Schedule
        The Dukes’ next games will be Sunday, October, 7th, at home against Bridgewater. The games will begin with Flag at 8:30am and continue throughout the day.
