At the past meeting, Michael Izzo, longtime Hillsborough resident and veteran of the National Security Agency, Field Station Berlin, spoke about his experience in the Army as well as the employment, health, and emotional issues for Veterans returning from war. He gave President Obama credit for making a priority for returning vets to find employment, and for being sensitive to Veteran’s issues overall, but said there was much more work to do. He described the various organizations, memorials, and events that take place locally during the year, encouraging participation. It was a very engaging presentation and discussion.
The Politics Book Club continues in April with the purely historical book “Born Fighting – How the Scots Irish Shaped America” by former Senator James Webb. It is currently scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 24 at a restaurant TBD. Contact james.bergstrom@comcast.net for more information and to RSVP and start reading now!
