Micro Nutrition
Micro nutrition focuses on the health benefits of everything you eat while macro nutrition will focus solely on carbs, fat and proteins. Micro is the way to go.
I often encounter people that are only concerned with their looks, their physical outer appearance. These types of people can normally tell you exactly what they eat each day and in what amounts, right down to the last calorie. I used to be like that too, until I realized that I needed to start being just as concerned about my health. As you may have read in one of my other blogs, I have been ripped plenty of time before for bodybuilding shows, but the times that i just focused on calories and macro nutrition (protein, carbs, fats) were the times I felt horrible.
In contrast to macro nutrition, micro nutrition focuses on not just how much you eat, but what nutrients and benefits each food provides. This is important because optimal eating should find the blend between health, body composition and performance (in the gym and on the field). Micro nutrition is the key to this lock so to speak. Again, as I have written before, people hold these beliefs that all fat is bad and saturated fat is the most evil substance on earth, therefore they draw the conclusion that low fat is good. As you may now know, good sources of saturated fats are the precursor to cell health and all sex hormone production.
Some things you may not have known that come from micro nutrition:

- Grass fed beef is far superior to grain
fed beef, even if the macro nutrients are identical. In fact, there was a study done in which a subject had a fast food burger and a grass fed burger at separate times. The body instantly reacted different to the two types of beef. My Coach did an experiment at which he switched all his clients from grain fed beef to grass fed beef and every single trainee had a reduction in waist size!
- Lemons are great for liver detoxification. The liver is the main fat burning organ in the body and it needs to be running at full function if you ever hope to reach your goals.
- Cage free eggs contain a very high amount of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which is great for freeing up body fat stores. There is a supplement form, but it is useless. The only effective source comes from animals that ate their natural diets.
It may not seem like a big deal, but the results speak for themselves. Does eating for micro nutrition become more expensive? Slightly, but if there is one thing I know for certain, it’s that you should invest on your food and self-education because they both determine who you ultimately become.
