Caution: Energy Drinks Can Damage Your Teeth Quickly

Dentists across the country are raising new fears about the sugar and acidity in some popular energy drinks.

A recent study published in the clinical journal of the Academy of General Dentistry found the acid in energy drinks can begin to damage teeth as quickly as five days.

The acidity in these popular drinks can literally dissolve your enamel. Once the enamel is gone, it's gone forever.

Energy drinks are most popular among teenagers and young adults, but children are drinking them, too. Dentists said they're seeing a spike in kids with cavities who drink these beverages.

For those who do throw back the occasional energy drink, dentists recommend they rinse their mouth with water afterward and wait an hour before brushing their teeth.
