Flooding Closes Griggstown Causeway

MONTGOMERY, NJ — Flooding from heavy rain on Wednesday has caused the Griggstown Causeway in Montgomery to close Thursday.

Currently, the Millstone River is at 9.84 feet high, just below the 10-foot marker for minor flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

More rain is expected in the area on Thursday night. Here is a look at the upcoming forecast:

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely before noon, then a slight chance of showers between noon and 3 p.m. Cloudy through mid-morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 77. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 45. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.
