Franklin Firefighters Battle 2 House Fires On Saturday
One fire was linked to a microwave oven and he second fire to a discarded cigarette, police report.
FRANKLIN, NJ — Franklin Township firefighters battled two separate house fires reported within an hour on Saturday.
The first was a kitchen fire reported at 5:49 p.m. on April 6 at a home on Wilson Road, Franklin Police reported.
Heavy smoke was seen coming from the home when police and firefighters arrived. All residents had already escaped the home.

One homeowner suffered from smoke inhalation but refused medical assistance.
After the fire was extinguished, the Franklin Township Office of Fire Prevention determined that the fire was not suspicious.

The fire reportedly started in the microwave oven. The house was deemed uninhabitable at this time, police reported.
The second fire was reported at 6:35 p.m. on New Brunswick Road where a garage was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and the Franklin Township Office of Fire Prevention determined that the fire was not suspicious.
The cause was reportedly a discarded cigarette. The fire was isolated to the garage area of the structure and residents were allowed to return into the home, police reported.
