Hillsborough Board Renews 3 Top Administrators For 2026-27 School Year

The school board set 2026-27 terms and salaries for three Hillsborough district leadership positions.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough Board of Education(BOE) approved one-year appointments for three senior district administrators for the 2026-2027 school year.

All three reappointments run from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

Gerald Eckert was reappointed as School Business Administrator/Board Secretary with an annual salary of $227,622.

Eckert was initially appointed in January 2022. Before that, he previously served as Assistant Business Administrator in Hillsborough from 2008 through 2014 before serving with the Randolph Public Schools as Business Administrator/Board Secretary.

The board also reappointed Dr. Lisa Rebimbas as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction with an annual salary of $220,148.

She was initially appointed to the position in February 2025. Rebimbas previously served as a teacher, Middle School Principal, and Director of Special Services in Scotch Plains-Fanwood.

Joel Handler was reappointed Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Technology with an annual salary of $211,347.

Handler was initially appointed to the position in May 2025. He previously served as the Director of Technology for Hillsborough Township Public Schools for more than 20 years.

The three reappointments were approved unanimously by the BOE at the May 11 meeting.
