Hillsborough Elementary School Roof, Lot Repairs Could Cost $2.2M
A public hearing will be held on Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m. where parents and residents can comment on the plan and how to finance the project.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough school officials are looking to begin repairing the Elementary School roof and parking lot.
"The [Hillsborough Elementary School] roof is considered to be in failure mode and has exceeded its useful life. The HES parking lot has deteriorated where patchwork will no longer be sufficient. It has become a safety issue for staff and students and would require repaving," said Hillsborough School Business Administrator Aiman Mahmoud.
The estimated cost of the project to replace the roof and repave the parking lot is about $2.2 million.

The board is looking at financing the project over a five-year span to avoid making one large payment. However, nothing has been finalized.
The board has not determined where the funds will come for this project yet, said Mahmoud.
