Hillsborough High School Student Named Unsung Hero
The Township Committee recognized Connor Oranchak for achieving the Somerset County School Board Association's Unsung Hero Award.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Township Committee honored Hillsborough High School Senior, Connor Oranchak, with a proclamation recognizing him for achieving the Somerset County School Board Association's Unsung Hero Award.
The proclamation was given to Oranchak at the April 22 Township Committee meeting.
"Wow, I can't believe this. My first reaction when I got the Unsung Hero award was probably a dream come true for me," said Oranchak. "I am just super grateful for that. I would also like to say thank you to my mom. She always lights my day every morning with a smile on her face, and every night. I would also like to thank my dad for always trying to grow my confidence."

The Unsung Hero award is bestowed upon a student who makes an outstanding contribution to their school and community, even though the student may often be overlooked under traditional student recognition guidelines.
Oranchak is an active member of the Hillsborough High School Theatre, Legacy Show Choir, Mixed Chorale, International Thespian Honor Society Troupe, and the Video and Film Club.

He also participated in the Hip Hop Competition Team, the Social Activism and Awareness Club, the Anime and Manga Club, 3D Printing Club, and was selected for the Region Choir and P.A.L.S (Peers Assistance Leadership Service).
Oranchak volunteers for the Hillsborough High School morning announcements and in the Thespian Committee for Broadway Cares.
"He was nominated and chosen for this award based on the impact he has made upon the Hillsborough High School community. He serves as an inspiration to many and is a positive light in the school community," according to the proclamation.
