Hillsborough Man Arrested After Barricade Situation

SWAT/Crisis Negotiations Team responded to a Hillsborough home where an armed township man threatened to hurt two others inside: prosecutor

Hillsborough, NJ -- An armed Hillsborough man, who barricaded himself inside his Fairfield Lane home and threatened to harm two others inside was arrested after Somerset County SWAT/Crisis Negotiations Team were activated, Acting Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson announced.

Lawrence Davies, age 58, of Hillsborough was arrested for Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, second degree, Terroristic Threats, third degree and Aggravated Assault, fourth degree.

Hillsborough Police reported responding to the Fairfield Lane home at 10:51 p.m. after they received a 9-1-1 call stating Davis was barricaded inside with a gun and threatened to harm two others in the home.

At 2:30 a.m. SWAT members were able to arrest Davies without any further incident and recovered a .357 Magnum handgun from inside the home, according to the prosecutor's release.

Davies was transported to an area hospital for observation.

Bail was set by the Honorable Kevin M. Shanahan, J.S.C. at $75,000 cash or bond with the added condition that should the defendant make bail he is not to have contact with the victims.
