Hillsborough Route 206 Faces Overnight Stoppages As Road Project Advances
The overnight stoppages will let crews shift construction drums and widen the work zone for a new lane.
HILSBOROUGH, NJ — Drivers in Hillsborough should expect temporary traffic stoppages on Route 206 North overnight Friday as work continues on the Route 206, Doctors Way to Valley Road project.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday, Route 206 North is scheduled to have temporary traffic stoppages between Doctor's Way and Valley Road.
The stoppages are needed so crews can reposition construction drums and create a wider work zone. That work is intended to allow construction of the new northbound lane as the long-running corridor project moves forward, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation(NJDOT).

The Route 206, Doctors Way to Valley Road project is federally funded and is designed to create two travel lanes in each direction of Route 206 between Doctors Way and Valley Road.
According to NJDOT, the work is intended to enhance safety and ease traffic congestion along that stretch of highway.

The project also includes a new median barrier, which will eliminate left turns to and from properties along the highway and direct turns to newly signalized intersections and jughandles. According to the project information, that change is expected to reduce turn-related crashes and improve traffic flow.
In the past year, PSE&G completed transferring all of its wires, repaving ramps, and installing guiderail. The majority of curb work has also been completed, along with the installation of reinforced concrete pipes, inlets, and drainage basins.
Work is still underway on the new northbound lane, as well as the Valley Road Bridge and sidewalk installation, according to the project information. The overnight stoppages are part of that next phase of construction.
Drivers traveling through the area overnight should plan for brief delays on Route 206 northbound between Doctor's Way and Valley Road during the scheduled work window. The temporary stoppages are scheduled to end by 6 a.m. Saturday.
