Hillsborough Seeks Public Input On Open Space In Master Plan Update

The new Hillsborough survey focuses on identifying and protecting open space as part of the township's Master Plan process.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough is moving ahead with its Master Plan update and has launched a new public survey focused on open space.

"The Master Plan creates a 'roadmap' for the Township to create a vibrant and thriving community, and includes elements such as transportation, land use, farmland, open space, and more," according to Jannah Hameed with the Hillsborough Township’s Planning & Zoning Department.

The new survey follows two earlier surveys that were released to gather feedback on the goals of the Master Plan and the Land Use Element.

According to the township, the latest round of questions centers on open space and will help identify present land, both private and public, that is designated as open space.

The survey also looks at land that could be designated as open space for future acquisitions.

The township said the survey is also intended to support development of a plan to protect present and future open space.

Residents are encouraged to participate as the planning process continues. The survey is available in multiple languages through the township's Engage Hillsborough platform at engagehillsboroughnj.org.

"We encourage all community members to take the survey and make their voices heard!" said Hameed.

The survey will close on May 17.
