Hillsborough To Select New Member To Fill Committee Vacancy

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough Committee will decide Tuesday night who will fill Township Committeewoman Olivia Holmes's open seat after she resigned due to her battle with the coronavirus.

The committee will choose from Jeffrey Wright, Donnetta Johnson, and David Brook at a special meeting on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Under state law, the Hillsborough Democrats had to select three nominees to fill the vacancy of which the township committee will choose from.

There has been much contention revolving around this decision after Hillsborough Republican Chairman Ken Scherer wrote a letter saying democrats are completely disregarding voters' wishes by nominating candidates who lost in previous elections.
