Hillsborough Township Closes Out Award-Winning Year

The Township Committee and Staff were honored at the recent League of Municipalities Conference in Atlantic City last month.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Township is closing out 2024 with an abundance of accolades, many of which were presented at the recent League of Municipalities Conference in Atlantic City last month.

The Hillsborough Township Committee received the 2024 New Jersey Municipal Manager Association's (NJMMA) Elected Ocials of the Year Award, awarded to one Municipality in New Jersey for fostering the growth and development of its employees.

Mayor Robert Britting, Jr. accepted the award and acknowledged the exceptional work done by the Hillsborough Township employees.

"It’s such an honor to accept this award on behalf of Hillsborough Township," Britting said before thanking Hillsborough Township staff and vowing to continue to "have their backs" and help them to develop their careers.

Britting was also recognized by the New Jersey Tuesday Group at their third annual Mayor’s Reception at the League Of Municipalities conference. Earlier this year, Britting received the "Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition" from Congressman Tom Kean’s offce for his "Ask the Mayor Series."

Other notable awards and honors bestowed upon Hillsborough Township sta are as follows:

  • Local Government Leadership Program Certificate awarded to Deputy Mayor John Ciccarelli
  • NJMMA Length of Service Award presented to Administrator Anthony Ferrera for 10 years of service to the NJMMA
  • Sustainable Jersey Sustainability Champion (Large) awarded to Hillsborough Township
  • Sustainable Jersey Silver Certification awarded to Hillsborough Township
  • Sustainable Jersey Gold Star in Health awarded to Hillsborough Township
  • New Jersey Building Officials Association Inspector of the Year to Construction Official John Fiedler
  • New Jersey Building Officials Association President’s Award for Outstanding and Dedicated Service to Construction Official John Fiedler
  • Hillsborough Township designated a "Healthy Town" for 2023 by the Mayors Wellness Campaign
  • New Jersey Recreation & Parks Association (NJRPA) Agency Showcase Award awarded to Hillsborough Township Parks & Recreation for video promotion for "How the Grinch Stole Our Christmas Tree."
  • Somerset County’s Top 40 Under 40 Award will be presented to the Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, Grin Dunne, at the annual awards luncheon on Dec. 9. This award highlights young professionals within the business community who have emerged as leaders during the past few years.
