HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The polls are closed and the 2024 unofficial Primary Election votes for Hillsborough Township Committee are being tallied unofficially.

The Somerset County clerk has not certified the totals yet. To make the tally official, the final certification of the results must be done.

There were only two Republicans and two Democrats running in the uncontested primary election. Incumbent Republicans Robert Britting, Jr. and Shawn Lipani will now face off against Democrats Hermes Vallejo and James Vandervliet in November.

  • Robert Britting, Jr. - Republican* - 1,738
  • Shawn Lipani - Republican* - 1,755
  • Hermes Vallejo - Democrat - 1,864
  • James Vandervliet - Democrat - 1,840

Somerset County Board of County Commissioners:

  • Shanel Robinson - Democrat* - 15,791
  • Sara Sooy - Democrat* - 14,606
  • Nick Cuozzo - Republican - 13,389
  • Rakesh "Rocky" Ganta - Republican - 13,049

The general election is scheduled for Nov. 5, and whoever is elected will begin their term in January 2025.
