Ice Cream, Chocolate Shop Opened By Montgomery Family Man

Thomas Sweet Cafe has opened in a new location in the township and is offering a new selection of chocolates and candies.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — Thomas Sweet Cafe's new store is officially open for business in the Skillman section of Montgomery.

The cafe is run by family man Marco Cucchi, who grew up in Princeton and now lives in Montgomery.

As a high school student, Cucchi says he actually scooped ice cream and made the ice cream in the original Thomas Sweet located on Nassau Street in Princeton.

After a successful career in the corporate world, Cucchi came back to Princeton in 2006 and purchased Thomas Sweet ice cream, and the Thomas Sweet chocolate shop located in Palmer Square in Princeton.

He said "he always loved working at Thomas Sweet and was thrilled to come back to the store."

Cucchi moved to Montgomery to raise his children and expanded the Thomas Sweet brand to Montgomery in 2011 adding a cafe component offering coffee, tea, baked goods, and sandwiches.

This year, Cucchi is happy to go back to the roots of Thomas Sweet — ice cream and chocolate —in his new location at 378 Route 206 in Montgomery.

The ice cream and most of the chocolate are handmade with high-quality ingredients in Princeton.

Cucchi says that besides a variety of unusual flavors, what makes Thomas Sweets unique is the Blend-In where customers can choose an ice cream flavor and then up to 3 items (cookies, candy, fruit) to blend in it.

"Thomas Sweets has special machines that blend the hard ice cream with the items to create a dessert with a super creamy consistency. It is so different from any other ice cream and is unique to each person's individual preferences," according to Cucchi.

The grand opening of the new store will be held on Sunday, July 2.
