Man Sentenced In Aggravated Assault Of Franklin Store Employee

FRANKLIN, NJ — A Franklin man was sentenced to five years in prison in connection with the assault of a store employee in the township in November 2022.

On July 1, Judge Peter J. Tober sentenced Yahmir Brown, 19, of Franklin Township where he must serve 85 percent of the sentence without eligibility for parole, on the charge of second-degree aggravated assault.

Following a week-long trial, a Somerset County jury returned a guilty verdict on the charge on May 10.

Brown was charged, along with a juvenile co-defendant, with assaulting the employee of a local business the night before Thanksgiving in 2022.

The victim sustained multiple facial fractures because of the incident, which was the subject of a joint investigation by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Franklin Township Police Department.
