The Hillsborough Dukes hosted Maplewood/South Orange on Sunday, September 29th. The Dukes’ competed in games across 4 levels starting at 9:00 in the morning competing in the 5th games of their season.
Flag teams
The Red Flag team played against MSO and had quality performances on both sides of the ball. The defense gave up their 2nd most touchdowns of the year, but did a good job holding down a physical and fast opponent. Jack Moran, Cole Hayden and Francesca Schiro led the team on defense with plays behind the line of scrimmage and touchdown saving flag pulls. On offense the Dukes scored 7 more times with Moran leading the charge with 4 of his own, 3 running and one touchdown reception from CJ Olney. Olney also threw a touchdown pass to Hayden. The scoring for the Dukes was rounded out by touchdown runs for Logan McDermid and Jason Roser.

The Yellow Flag team also competed against a strong and physical team from Maplewood. Shailen Patel scored both touchdowns for Yellow Flag and their defense put up a competitive effort against a strong opponent.

Mitey Mites
The Dukes Mitey Mite team hosted MSO and had a hard fought close game. Both teams reached the end zone in the 1st half, with the Dukes scoring on two runs in the 1st quarter by Michael Caporaso and Jeremy Martino. MSO was held to one 2nd quarter touchdown run and the 2nd half developed into a defensive struggle. The defensive backfield led the way with key contributions by Donoven Nicolas, Kyle Sellyei, Jack O'Donnell, Martino, Stephen Dowe, Austin Quandt, Logan Press, Chris Spinelli, Christian Quandt and Tyler Oram . Caporaso ended the game with his 2nd sack of the day.
Junior PeeWee
The Junior Pee Wee team lost to MSO 25 to 6 to fall to 2 and 3. Rocco Viscel scored the lone touchdown on a reception from James Mazuera. Kyle Hudak had an interception, Leo Schiro, Nick Caporaso and Liam Jones had tackles for losses while Matt Ruggier led the team in tackles.
PeeWee
The Pee Wee team raised their record to 3 and 2 with a 20 to 6 victory over MSO.
Cheer
All of the football teams would like to thank the Dukes cheer squads for their support. The girls cheered on the teams and used this week to continue to work on their competition performance at Half Time for their Competition season which begins in 2 weeks.
Schedule
The Dukes’ will return to action on Sunday, October 6th. The Dukes will be on the road again as Flag, Mitey Mite and Junior Pee Wee all travel to Clark. The Pee Wee team will travel to Flemington for their 6th game of the season.
