Missing Boy Located, Biological Parents Arrested

Michael Streko, 34, and Amy Streko, 32, have been charged with third-degree custodial interference.

An 8-year-old New Jersey boy allegedly kidnapped by his biological parents was located in New York Friday evening, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release.

Michael Streko, 34, and Amy Streko, 32, have been charged with third-degree custodial interference. They were located with their son, who was not injured, in Port Jervis, NY at 6 p.m., according to authorities.

The Strekos are accused of taking their son, Everett, last week from his grandmother, who was his legal guardian. He was last seen by his grandmother on July 16 at her home in Green Brook.

The Crime Stoppers of Somerset County, Inc. offered a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to whereabouts of the couple and their son.

Michael and Amy Streko did not have custody of Everett. But they looked like a happy family when they announced their “On the road with the Strekos” project and posted on Facebook in May. The three planned to travel America, selling food from their RV, filming themselves and interviewing people while raising money to fund the trip through “Kickstarter.”

“I just know from past experience that we we’re going to have try it out,” Amy Streko said in the video, appearing reluctant to take this trip.

The Kickstarter campaign never materialized, the fundraising page was taken down and several sites tracking Kickstarters say it raised $577 of its $25,000 goal, according to nj.com.
