Motorcycle SUV Collide In Labor Day Weekend Crash In Hillsborough

The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old East Brunswick man, was hospitalized while the Hillsborough driver of the SUV was uninjured, said police.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A motorcyclist is hospitalized following a crash with an SUV in Hillsborough on Friday evening.

On Sept. 2 at around 5:17 p.m., Hillsborough Police were called to Amwell Road near the intersection of Route 206 for a crash involving a motorcycle and sport utility vehicle, said Hillsborough Police Sergeant Jack Howard.

Police found the driver of the motorcycle, Oleg Shaburov, 23, of East Brunswick, on the road with serious injuries to his left arm and left leg, said Howard.

The driver of the SUV, Vijay Kumar, 37, of Hillsborough, was not injured. Police provided aid to Shaburov while waiting for Robert Wood Johnson EMS and Medics to arrive.

A preliminary investigation found that Shaburov was driving eastbound on Amwell Road and the Kumar was exiting a shopping plaza at the time of the crash, said Howard.

Shaburov was stabilized and taken to Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick by RWJ Medics and EMS.

A portion of Amwell Road was closed for about three hours during the police investigation. It has since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hillsborough Township Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office CART Team.
