New Committee Member To Be Appointed In Hillsborough Friday

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough will be appointing a new Committee Member on Friday night to fill the unexpired term of Janine Erickson.

The Hillsborough Township Committee is holding a special meeting on Friday at 6 p.m. where the candidate will be announced.

Erickson's resignation from the Township Committee was announced at the Nov. 9 meeting. She pointed to her personal life obligations that led her to make the "difficult" decision to resign. Read More: Personal Life Obligations Prompt Hillsborough Deputy Mayor To Resign

"It has been my honor and privilege to serve on the township committee for the last two years," Erickson previously said in a statement. "My goal when elected was to enthusiastically give my time and attention to my elected position, to the Township staff, and to the residents of Hillsborough. Unfortunately, increased obligations in my personal life have made it difficult for me to dedicate the time and attention to the level that I feel the residents of Hillsborough deserve. Therefore, after much contemplation, I made the difficult decision to step aside to allow someone else to give the time our township deserves and expects from its elected officials."

Erickson was first elected to the township committee in 2020 and was chosen to serve as Deputy Mayor for 2022.

The Hillsborough Republican Municipal Committee submitted three names to the Hillsborough Township Committee for consideration to finish Erickson's term.
